About Matthias

Education

I studied Business Administration at the Hamburger Fern-Hochschule (HFH) and International Relations and Conflict Resolution at American Public University. It was intense, but completing my Master’s degree at the latter was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It introduced me to a completely new way of learning: instead of traditional exams, professors posed complex questions that required deep academic research to answer. Continuous feedback from peers and professors helped refine these ideas. This collaborative approach made it possible to address complex issues by combining insights from various academic disciplines. The real magic happens when this process expands existing knowledge and creates genuine value for a broader audience—which is precisely the goal of my writing and newsletter.
 

Professional Experience

My career with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence and later the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs has taken me to Syria, Luxembourg, and Italy (Milan and Rome).
 

Later, I made a career shift into teaching at a secondary school (Mittelschule) and relocated to Southern Burgenland.

Family & Interests

I am a husband and proud father (three girls), and my biggest passions outside of work are hockey, strength training, cooking, and reading.
